Maybe! The pirate adventure is an entertainment cruise full of fun pirate training activities and games. While underway we can see a variety of marine life including sea turtles. We do sometimes see dolphin, but we do not target or change the route in search of dolphin. If you are interested in a cruise primarily focused on dolphin, add our dolphin cruise with the pirate adventure at checkout to receive 20% off your dolphin cruise! Another option is our pirate ship scenic cruise, where sightseeing and relaxing is our main goal (dolphins not guaranteed)
You may! During the Spring/Summer/Fall months, we recommend clothes you can get wet in or a swimsuit and a change of clothes for those tall and small who choose to participate (particularly our cabin kids)! Some of our Pirate Training Activities do include water as a good way to stay cool and have fun in the heat! A towel and/ or swim clothes are recommended. Anyone who wants to stay dry (tall or small); Watch out for the Splash Zone. Our crew does give fair warning before all water activities! The Pirate Ship Scenic Cruise does not have any water activities.
The trip is the exact same, the only difference is the Pirate Adventure at Sunset gets opportunity to view the sunset during the excursion!
Pirate Ship Adventure
Once on board our authentic 65ft wooden pirate ship, our pirate crew will lead you and your mini-mates in an interactive performance full of fun games and activities!
You will learn how to be a part of our pirate crew! Learn how to earn your sea legs, put out a fire on the ship, catch cannonballs, read and fold a treasure map, earn pirate punch, sing songs, dance along, and hear true stories of pirates before us in our very own waters!
Water and Pirate Punch are provided halfway through the excursion; however, you are permitted to bring a small cooler with anything you would like, no glass please. Alcohol is permitted in moderation for all guests 21+.
Children 8 years old and younger are required by the Alabama Marine Police to wear a lifejacket at all times while on board a vessel. If you have your own lifejacket, feel free to bring your own. We have them available for everyone. Adults are not required to wear lifejackets while on the boat, there are safety vests located in the cabin that will be distributed to you if necessary. Puddle jumper style life jackets are not permitted.
Yes! Our pirate crew prides themselves on keeping our clean marine toilet ship shape!
Yes! We have bench seating throughout the ship, on the outside of the cargo hatch, and shaded seating in the stern
The American Star is modeled after the original Pinta and Nina that sailed across the Atlantic Ocean. It is an all-wooden boat, and there is a cabin on board which will provide some shading if necessary.
Our Ship is an authentic 1959 Wooden ship. We maintain the ship to the highest standards but in order to keep it as authentic as possible, we do not have air conditioning. We do however have a large shaded area in the stern. Our captain also keeps the vessel moving as much as possible to maximize the wind and keep everyone comfortable.
